March is Women’s History Month. It is a time to celebrate, honor, remember, and experience all the awesome things accomplished by women of all walks of life. As I have said many times, I am an avid reader. In honesty, I now am an avid Audible listener making my commuter time double as my “reading” time, which really came in handy on my eleven-hour drive to and then back from my book signing in Amarillo, but I digress.
If you look at my library, both physical and audio bookshelves, the storytelling I reach for a majority of the time is written and created by women.
In this series of blog posts, I will be sharing about my favorite women authors. The ones whose storytelling styles, characters, and plotlines have inspired my own storytelling. From the way they structure the pacing and flow of the words on the page to the topics they choose to explore through deep and complex characters, their stories have truly developed my love for telling fantastical stories that reflect concerns of the real world.
Each post will provide a little bit of background about each author, as well as a list with links* to the works I have personally read. I hope to share with you what I found captivating, motivating, and moving about their works that has brought me back to them time and again.
